Doppelte Bände aus dem Lesesaal Potsdamer Straße | Dublicate Volumes from the Reading Room at Potsdamer Straße

Sollten Sie im Lesesaal der Stabi Potsdamer Straße jetzt oder bis Ende Mai zwei Menschen sehen, die Bände aus den Regalen abtransportieren, wundern Sie sich nicht: Bände aus dem allgemeinen Lesesaalbestand des Hauses Potsdamer Straße (Signatur beginnt mit HB), die in mindestens einem weiteren Exemplar in der Bibliothek vorhanden sind, werden aus dem Bestand der Stabi ausgesondert. Diese Maßnahme findet in Vorbereitung der Generalinstandsetzung statt und dient der Reduktion von Bänden im Lesesaalbestand und generell von mehrfach in der Bibliothek vorhandenen Medien. Die Bände werden an ein Antiquariat abgegeben. Sie werden von einem Mitarbeiter des Antiquariats zusammen mit einer Kollegin aus der Bibliothek direkt an den Regalen im Lesesaal entnommen.

If you happen to spot two individuals in the reading room of the Stabi Potsdamer Straße from now until the end of May, busily removing volumes from the shelves, don’t be alarmed. Volumes from the general reading room collection of the Potsdamer Straße location, which exist in at least one more copy within the library, are being withdrawn from Stabi’s collection. This action is part of the preparation for the general renovation  and aims to reduce the volumes in the reading room collection as well as duplicates in the library. These volumes will be handed over to an antiquarian. They will be retrieved directly from the shelves in the reading room by an employee of the antiquarian, along with a colleague from the library.
