9. + 19. Mai: Potsdamer Straße öffnet 10 Uhr | Haus opens at 10am
Sie sollen bald wieder leuchten – die charakteristischen Lampen des Industriegestalters Günter Ssymmank (hier mehr Infos) im Lesesaal. Oberhalb der großen Eingangstreppen stehen Veränderungen an. Mitte Mai werden die Lampen gewartet, ausgetauscht und teils wieder mit Leuchtmitteln versehen. Ein Gerüst wird dafür aufgebaut. Einige der Arbeiten erfolgen früh vor Öffnung des Hauses. Es wird jedoch Einschränkungen bei den Öffnungszeiten an einzelnen Tagen und beim Zugang zum Lesesaal während der Wartungszeit von etwa drei Wochen geben.
Freitag, 9. Mai, Gerüstaufbau an der Haupttreppe:
- Das Haus öffnet an diesem Tag erst um 10 Uhr.
- Der Lesesaal ist vorübergehend über das Treppenhaus neben dem Aufzug erreichbar. Der Weg wird entsprechend gekennzeichnet.
- Anschließend erfolgt zu Ihrer Sicherheit der Zugang zum Lesesaal über einen Gerüsttunnel.
Montag, 19. Mai, Gerüstumbau an der Südtreppe:

Montag, den 26. und Dienstag, den 27. Mai wird das Gerüst wieder abgebaut.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass an allen Auf-, Um- und Abbautagen mit erhöhter Unruhe und Geräuschen zu rechnen ist. Zusätzlich werden an diesen Tagen im Lesesaal Rauchmelder ausgetauscht und Regaloberböden gereinigt.

They will soon shine again – all distinctive lighting fixtures designed by industrial designer Günter Ssymmank require maintenance, replacement, and in some cases, new light bulbs. Over a period of three weeks, changes will take place above the main entrance stairs leading to the reading room. A scaffold will be erected specifically for this purpose. Some of the work will be carried out early in the morning before the building opens. However, this will necessitate temporary restrictions on opening hours on certain days and limited access to the reading room during the maintenance period.
Friday, 9 May – Scaffold erection:
- The building will open at 10am on this day.
- The reading room will temporarily be accessible via the staircase next to the elevator. The path will be secured and clearly marked.
- Afterwards, access to the reading room will be through a scaffold tunnel.
Monday, 19 May – Scaffold modification:
- The building will open at 10 am
Monday, 26 and Tuesday, 27 – Scaffold dismantling.
Please note that increased noise and disruption are to be expected on all scaffold assembly, modification, and dismantling days. Additionally, smoke detectors in the reading room will be replaced and the tops of the shelving units will be cleaned on these days.
