Seit einiger Zeit stehen im Brunnenhof der Stabi Unter den Linden zwei Sicherheitstunnel und seit dem 8. April wird dort ein Gerüst aufgebaut. Aber was genau geht hier vor?

In regelmäßigen Abständen, d.h. ca. alle fünf Jahre, muss auf den Dächern der Staatsbibliothek überprüft werden, ob alle Dachschindeln fest sitzen. So stellen wir sicher, dass sich keine Schindeln lösen und in die Höfe oder auf die Gehwege fallen, wobei sie unter Umständen Personen verletzen könnten. Was eigentlich ein unkomplizierter Kontrollgang ist, stellt sich an der Fassade in Richtung Unter den Linden viel schwieriger dar: Es gibt keine sichernde Brüstung und die Geometrie des Dachs lässt keine Sicherung der Handwerker:innen zu. Damit also niemand bei der Wartung zu Schaden kommt, muss im Brunnenhof ein Gerüst aufgebaut werden.

Die eigentlichen Dacharbeiten gehen zügig von statten, der Gerüstaufbau ist allerdings komplex: In die historische Natursteinfassade der Stabi darf nicht gebohrt werden und die Abstandshalter des Gerüsts dürfen nur in den Fugen befestigt werden. Dabei muss unbedingt darauf geachtet werden, dass die jeweilige Fuge genug Halt bietet. Der Aufbau des Gerüsts erfolgt somit sehr sorgsam. Anschließend wird die Standfestigkeit des Gerüsts von offizieller Stelle abgenommen und die Dacharbeiten beginnen. Bisher bewegt sich dieses Vorhaben hervorragend im Zeitplan und sobald das Gerüst sicher steht, können auch die Tunnel im Brunnenhof entfernt werden.

For some time now, there have been two safety tunnels in the courtyard of the Staatsbibliothek Unter den Linden, and since 8 April , a scaffold has been stored there. But what exactly is going on here?

At regular intervals, approximately every five years, the roofs of the Staatsbibliothek must be checked to ensure that all roof tiles are securely in place. This ensures that no tiles come loose and fall into the courtyards or onto the sidewalks, potentially injuring people. What is usually a straightforward inspection becomes much more difficult on the facade facing Unter den Linden: there is no protective railing, and the geometry of the roof does not allow for the safety of the craftsmen. Therefore, to ensure that no one is harmed during maintenance, a scaffold must be stored in the Courtyard.

The actual roof work progresses quickly, but the construction of the scaffold is complex: drilling into the historic natural stone facade of the Staatsbibliothek is not allowed, and the scaffold’s spacers can only be attached in the joints. It is essential to ensure that each joint provides enough support. The scaffold construction is therefore carried out very carefully. Subsequently, the stability of the scaffold is inspected by an official authority, and the roof work begins. So far, this project is progressing excellently according to schedule, and once the scaffold is secure, the tunnels in the courtyard can also be removed.

Wegen bevorstehender Dacharbeiten werden an der Eingangsfassade des Hauses Unter den Linden Gerüste aufgestellt. Das benötigte Material wird ab dem 8. April im Brunnenhof gelagert. Der Zugang zum Haus wird uneingeschränkt möglich sein.

Due to upcoming roof work, scaffolding will be installed on the entrance facade of the Haus Unter den Linden. The required materials will be stored in the courtyard starting from April 8th. Access to the house will remain unrestricted.
